The most popular World of Warcraft private server is definitely Nostalrius because the server reached such a high amount of popularity that it even had a bigger active player base than most of Blizzard’s official servers had, this forced Blizzard to send a “seize and desist” letter to Nostalrius. The server shutdown angered all WoW fans so hard that they even managed to gather 250.000 unique signatures which they sent to Blizzard in order to prove that if they open Legacy servers players will pay to play, but Blizzard has yet to create a Legacy server.
Seeing that Blizzard isn’t going to create a Vanilla server any time soon, Nostarlius went live once again through Elysium and this caused other major Vanilla private servers to announce huge changes. Kronos, the second most popular Vanilla server has just announced that they will merge both of their servers Kronos I and Kronos II together and to top that, Naxxramas will be added as well. Players can expect this changes to happen coming 2017 and after all the major guilds finally end the War Effort to close the eye of the Old God in Ahn’Qiraj Temple.
The public test realm will receive Naxxramas on December 9th and at the same time the developers will start duplicating the Kronos I characters on the PTR. What’s great is that players will be able to change their race and faction when the private server is finally made public. According to the Kronos forums, the developers are also working creating a bounty system that will give players the ability to set head bounties on their enemies. Blizzard is focused on the current Legion expansion and forgot all about the promised Legacy servers but luckily, we have Kronos and Nostalrius instead.
